The Essential Aspect Of Comfort Foods

It is very difficult for anyone to deal with being dumped. It doesn't make it hurt less if you were dumped by your boyfriend or girlfriend. You feel like you have been stabbed in the back and like garbage that has been tossed in the trash can, not worth anything.

Who can you depend on? If you didn't have your best buddy by your side the moment it happened, you will probably bury your head in your pillow and cry your eyes out. After this, you will probably soothe your heartbreak with a box of chocolates, a big bowl of ice cream or a bag of chips.

These comfort foods give you the calm feeling you need to deal with the emotional discomfort that almost tears your insides apart. When you are sinking deep into depression, you depend on these foods because they wait quietly for you to dig your teeth into them. Some people think they are more reliable than friends since they can't give you any unwanted advice, are more appreciated than parents because they won't punish you and more helpful than psychiatrists since they don't judge you.

They absorb your problems into their velvety, buttery, crispy goodness. A theory about these junk foods has been verified for a long time. Nearly all of the goodies that belong to this group are highly processed and pre-packaged products that contain simple carbohydrates. When you consume foods that is loaded with sugar it is easily digested by the body, giving a spark of energy known as a "sugar high". For awhile, you feel wonderful, joyful and comfortable. But, since they are very easy to digest, the energy goes away easy also. Eventually you "crash" and feel tired, depressed and unhappy.

To cheer yourself up, you eat more chocolate, an extra doughnut or one more cup of soda. The pattern continues until you feel like you are going to explode. The bad news that comfort foods are a long way from comforting. Each pastry you snack on and each piece of chocolate you chew cause fat to gradually pile up in your body. Cholesterol is a typical substance in these items that obstructs your arteries and results in plaque build up that constricts the passageway.

You have a higher risk for developing heart disease and having a stroke. These foods are complete traitors. They tempt your willpower, appearing like angels from heaven sent to help you when you need them. However they are very devious. After they enter your body and you begin to get flabby then you are aware that their main purpose is to make you obese, ruin your health and make you unattractive. Consider this: How will you benefit if you trick yourself into believing these foods are your friends?
